Artist Bio
Des Mann, retired resident of Ferny Hills in the Moreton Bay Region, was first prize winner of the 2010 Arts Alliance Festival with an abstract style acrylic painting. He also was awarded first prize at the Pine Rivers Show in 2010 for a seascape. Des has painted with acrylics for more than 30 years. Early works were portraits with progression to scenery from the sea to the richly coloured interior of Australia. More recent paintings have included people and sometimes animals or featured specific types of people as the main centres of interest. In earlier years, he painted some watercolour scenes and while still a teenager, took first prize a couple of times for pencil drawings.
Des studied art, art history, design, sketching with top level results at college when young and in later years also studied commercial art at college. He has sold paintings privately and from competitive shows. One lifelike acrylic was acquired by the Pine Rivers Shire Council prior to its amalgamation into the Moreton Bay Regional Council.
