John Bayne

Art by John Bayne

John Bayne is a representational Oil and Acrylic Painter and his style combines realism and impressionism. He works in a traditional method with oils or acrylic on prepared linen. His paintings cover a wide range of subjects which reflect both his maritime background and interest in the Australian outback. Subjects include portraits, paintings of animals, Australian birds and animals, wildlife, the Australian outback, maritime scenes, ships, boats, floral displays and still life.

His father was a professional photographer and this created his interest in photography at an early age. His working career began as an officer in the British Navy before settling into a business management career in Australia. Family and career commitments delayed any development of painting skills until later in life. He always retained his interest in photography, and has been painting for nearly 20 years. John studied with professional tutors in Melbourne and regional Victoria, and attended the Victorian Artist Society for a number of years.

He combines his knowledge of photography with the artistic creation of painting, and utilises the digital camera and Photoshop as tools of production along with drawing. He works from his home studio in Albany Creek and has taught art classes and tutored at workshops.

John’s paintings can be found in private and corporate collections in Australia and overseas. Some of John's work is by commission and many of these are held worldwide.
