M.B.R.C. Arts Awards

What a difference a year makes. In stark contrast to the weird and wonderful 2009 exhibition, this year’s Moreton Bay Regional Council’s Arts Awards are packed full with wonderfully executed, lively and technically superb pieces of art work. Judging the 2010 entrants was a real challenge for Paul Brinkman, director of the Cairns Regional Gallery but he rose to the occasion and selected works that truly reflect the excellence in art being produced in this area today. Under the watchful eye of Pine Rivers Gallery Director, Tracey Wallace (pictured above) an amazing and dazzling array of work has been assembled and is waiting to enthral those who take time to visit the exhibition (23rd to 30th May 2010).

Opening the Arts Awards, MBRC Mayor, Alan Sutherland, acknowledged the efforts of both participants and winners alike. While only a few could be recognised with a Merit or Highly Commended award and even fewer with winners prizes, virtually everyone selected for display this year deserved  recognition for their efforts.

The exhibition is split in two parts with the majority of three dimensional work being shown in the Pine Rivers Regional Art Gallery while the main exhibition takes place in the Strathpine Community Hall.

Visitors have the opportunity to vote for the People’s Choice award to be presented at the exhibition close.
